The Monday Update

February 16, 2015

George Washington's birthday is a United States federal holiday celebrated on the third Monday of February in honor of our first President. Called "Presidents Day", today is also an occasion to remember all of the Presidents, not just George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, whose birthday is February 12.

Tomorrow is Mardi Gras, French for "Fat Tuesday", reflecting the practice of the last night of eating richer, fatty foods before the ritual fasting of the Lenten season. But for many people, it is simply another reason to have a party. Laissez les bons temps rouler!
