Dear Brian and Chevonne,

Hopefully everyone enjoyed a beautiful Derby Weekend! Untapable wore the Lilies and California Chrome took home the Roses -- lets help Summit Academy win a prize with this week's Give Local Louisville online giving day!

Reminder: 8th Grade Portraits are this Tuesday, May 6.

Give Local Louisville is Tomorrow!

This Tuesday, May 6, we are excited to be participating in Give Local Louisville, a 24-hour online giving day dedicated to increasing your impact with stretch dollars and prize money contributed from the Community Foundation of Louisville and its supporting sponsors: LG&E and KU Energy, Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Kentucky and Churchill Downs.

By showing your support for Summit Academy on May 6, you help sustain a crucial resource in our community while helping us to continue our mission.

Let's see how much we can raise in a day! Invite your family, friends, coworkers, and employers to make Give Local Louisville a huge success for us!

Summit Idol

We have many contestants this year and a variety of acts! Don't miss our students showcasing their talent at this year's Summit Idol!

Throo the Zoo

Summit Academy staff, students, and families gather annually at the Louisville Zoo to participate in the 5K Throo the Zoo run/walk. This year's Throo the Zoo will take place on Saturday, May 10.

Join the Summit Academy Fitness Club and other students and families! (All who participate get admission to the zoo for the rest of the day.) Each participant will be responsible for their own registration fee and bib number pick up. The Summit group will meet in the bus parking lot before the race.

Contact Janna Mathews with any questions.

During the week of May 12-16, we will be collecting money for WHAS Crusade for Children. Last year we raised $1,500 for the Crusade and we would love to exceed that amount in 2014! The Crusade for Children has been extremely generous to Summit Academy - providing over $166,000 over the past 17 years that has funded our Pre-K/K programs, technology advancements, and needed equipment and instructional materials.

This year we will be competing to see which faculty members will get slimed!  (...and who will get to be made into a slime sundae!)

The contestants are...

Ms. Hoffmann

Ms. Nelson

Ms. Strong

Ms. Cobb

Ms. Kelly Hill

Ms. Susan Hill

Ms. Mathews

Mr. Carden

Mr. Hribek

Ms. Lape

Ms. Payne

Beginning May 12,

we will have collection containers in the lobby for each participating faculty member. The lucky ones with the most money at the end of the week will get slimed by our students at the Carnival!

**If anyone has a coin counting machine we could borrow for the week of May 12-16, please let us know!**

Derby at Summit

Last week we had our own "Derby Parade" at Summit Academy! Our Pre-K and Kindergarten classes marched through campus with their festive and colorfully decorated floats and "derby hats" for all to enjoy.

Graduation Brunch year's brunch will be held on Wednesday May 28th at 9:30 a.m. at the Hurstbourne Country Club. Please be sure to RSVP to Jenny Segin if you are planning to attend. You may do so via email at or call 502-244-7090.

Summer Programs

We are again offering exciting summer programs here at Summit Academy!

Yes, I Can! is individual tutoring that will help give your child a solid foundation and a thorough understanding of the concepts and skills needed for the next leg of his or her academic journey. One-on-one tutoring is available in all subject areas, and uses proven strategies to meet the educational needs of your student. Tutoring sessions are 50-minutes long, and can be scheduled any number of times per week to work around your summer schedule. Discovery is being offered this summer from 9:00 - 12:00 a.m. for students entering K - 4. It is the perfect combination of fun, socialization, discovering new skills and interests, and academic skills reinforcement. Technology, nature, cooking, models, and arts & crafts are just some of the discovery topics!

All programs will run June 16 - August 1 (closed June 30 - July 4). Register now online, at the front desk, or call 244-7090.
