Dear Brian and Chevonne,

Thank you to everyone who participated in the raffle. We are pleased to announce that we sold 385 tickets for a total of $3,850! The lucky Raffle Winner is Lee Payne. She will be receiving a check for $1,925. Also, the Newton Family are the winners of the Holiday World Tickets for selling the most raffle tickets! Congratulations and thank you! Avenue

We have a new addition to our carpool lane! The Blok Family earned the right to "Name the Carpool Line" by being the highest bidder at our recent Bluegrass Bourbon & Basketball event. Thank you for giving our carpool lane a name!

Summit Idol Registration Ends Today!

Don't let your student miss their moment in the spotlight! Application forms are available at the front desk. Auditions will be held this Wednesday and Thursday, April 30 & May 1 (each applicant must attend one audition).

Contact Rebecca Hoffmann with any questions.

Earth Day Trees

Thank you to Mr. Jerry Mobley, Edward Jones Financial Advisors, for donating the tree saplings that were sent home for Earth Day. If you have planted the tree and have any photos of it, please share them with us! Send photos via email to Teri Hardman.

During the week of May 12-16, we will be collecting money for WHAS Crusade for Children. Last year we raised $1,500 for the Crusade and we would love to exceed that amount in 2014! The Crusade for Children has been extremely generous to Summit Academy - providing over $166,000 over the past 17 years that has funded our Pre-K/K programs, technology advancements, and needed equipment and instructional materials.

This year we will be competing to see which faculty members will get slimed!  (...and

who will get

to be made into a slime sundae!)

Beginning May 12,

we will have collection containers in the lobby for each participating faculty member. The lucky ones with the most money at the end of the week will get slimed by our students at the Carnival!

Here's how the collection will work:

Monday: pennies

Tuesday: nickels

Wednesday: dimes

Thursday: quarters paper money

**If anyone has a coin counting machine we could borrow for the week of May 12-16, please let us know!**

A Right Royal Mess

Our Drama Club did it again! We enjoyed another fantastic performance with last week's hilarious production of A Right Royal Mess.

Do You Have a Story to Tell?  pen and paper

Would you like to share a story about your experience at Summit Academy?

We are looking for personal stories we can share with others who may not know about our school and mission. Your story could be included in newsletters, donor communications, on our website and/or social media outlets, as well as in our marketing videos. We can share numbers and facts -

but it is the personal stories that make the true impact!

We want to hear from parents, grandparents, students and teachers. You don't have to write a novel - just a few words or paragraphs on the impact Summit has made in your family or your own life. Your story can also be submitted anonymously. Stories can be submitted via email to Teri Hardman. If you and/or your child are interested in being a part of our video next year, please contact Chevonne via email or at 244-7090.

Attention Soon-To-Be Grads!

Graduation Brunch

This year's brunch will be held on Wednesday May 28th at 9:30 a.m. at the Hurstbourne Country Club. Please be sure to RSVP to Jenny Segin if you are planning to attend. You may do so via email at or call 502-244-7090.

Summer Programs

We are again offering exciting summer programs here at Summit Academy!

Yes, I Can! is individual tutoring that will help give your child a solid foundation and a thorough understanding of the concepts and skills needed for the next leg of his or her academic journey. One-on-one tutoring is available in all subject areas, and uses proven strategies to meet the educational needs of your student. Tutoring sessions are 50-minutes long, and can be scheduled any number of times per week to work around your summer schedule. Discovery is being offered this summer from 9:00 - 12:00 a.m. for students entering K - 4. It is the perfect combination of fun, socialization, discovering new skills and interests, and academic skills reinforcement. Technology, nature, cooking, models, and arts & crafts are just some of the discovery topics!

All programs will run June 16 - August 1 (closed June 30 - July 4). Register now online, at the front desk, or call 244-7090.

Throo the ZOO

Summit Academy staff, students, and families gather annually at the Louisville Zoo to participate in the 5K Throo the Zoo run/walk. This year's Throo the Zoo will take place on Saturday, May 10.

Join the Summit Academy Fitness Club and other students and families! (All who participate get admission to the zoo for the rest of the day.) Each participant will be responsible for their own registration fee and bib number pick up. The Summit group will meet in the bus parking lot before the race.
