Dear Chevonne,

You may have needed a boat to get around town this past weekend but the skies have finally cleared and we can all look forward to a beautiful fall week.

Hope to see all of our Grandparents this Thursday!

Thursday, November 7, 8:00 a.m. | The Olmsted

Reservations are coming in for this year's Mountaintop Breakfast and we are on track for a great turnout!

It's not too late for you to get involved and be a Table Captain.

What are your duties as a Table Captain?

  • Serve as host for a table at the Breakfast - helping to fill the table with friends, family members, co-workers, neighbors, etc.
  • Sit with your guests during the Breakfast and help by distributing and collecting the pledge cards at the end of the presentations.
  • You are not required to ask for donations as a Table Captain.

Even if you are unable to fill a complete table, please consider becoming a Table Captain and invite as many people as you can.  Contact Teri Hardman via email or 244-7813 for more information.

Are you a shutterbug?

We are recruiting a volunteer to serve as our "Official Breakfast Photographer". Our photographer will take photos at the event; capturing the guests, speakers, decor, and "essence" of the Mountaintop Breakfast.  Images will be used on our website, Facebook page and in future publications.  If you can help, please contact Chevonne via email or 244-7090.

Picture Re-Take/Make-Up Day

cameraPicture re-take/make-up day was cancelled last Friday and has been rescheduled to Friday, October 25, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Please note this on your calendars and be sure to notify your child's homeroom teacher if you intend to have their photo re-taken.

Learn More About Internet Safety special assembly is scheduled for Tuesday, October 15, at 2 p.m. in the auditorium for our 7th and 8th grade parents and students.

Officer David Hamblin from the Metro Police will be here to discuss internet safety.  The technological revolution has changed our world.  While there are many, many benefits as a result of all the technology, there are also dangers.  We want to make our students aware of the dangers associated with social media and misuse of the internet. The presentation will last about 30 minutes followed by 15 minute Q & A.

Sensory-Friendly Theater Family Theatre partners with the Kentucky Center and the University of Louisville's Autism Training Center at Kosair Charities to present Kentucky's first ever live Sensory-Friendly Performance.

For the first time in this community, Stage One will present a sensory friendly performance of Pooh's Corner specifically for kids and families that live with diagnoses that often mean children are intimidated by full theatrical performances.

Thursday is Grandparents Day have gone out to Summit grandparents inviting them to come have breakfast with us and see their grandchildren's classrooms and tour the school. If your child has a "special someone" in their life that is like a grandparent to them, such as a favorite aunt/uncle, family friend, etc., please feel free to invite them - or let us know and we will send an invitation to them.

If you did not receive an invitation, or would like to RSVP, please contact Debi Longfellow via email or at 244-7090.

Bracelets for a Good Cause

In honor of "MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY", Mrs. Strong's class is weaving bracelets to sell this week. The proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation in honor of Mrs. Joann Powell.

The colorful bracelets will be sold for $3 each during lunch this Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Orders may be placed for particular colors, etc. to be delivered within a week.

The weaving of the bracelets brings to mind the craft which many Native American tribes used to make jewelry, bags, and baskets.

Thank You for Bringing in Shoes

After last Monday's shoe donations, the re-count came to 552! That's a lot of shoes! Thank you again for your contributions.

Kosair Kids Halloween Night

We have an opportunity to get up to 40 tickets for Kosair Kids Halloween Night at the Louisville Zoo on Wednesday, October 16 at 6 p.m.  If you are interested in receiving a ticket, please email or call Kelly at 244-7090 by October 11.

  • Please only request a ticket if you are absolutely sure that you will use it since Kosair Charities will track all tickets issued.
  • Everyone entering the zoo must have a ticket-not just children
  • Initially, we will give only one ticket per family. If, by October 14, we have not had a request for all the tickets, we will give you an additional ticket.

So, come dressed in your Halloween best and be ready for some fun, and not too scary, trick-or-treating at the Louisville Zo
