Dear Chevonne,

It's that time of year again...

Invitations went out last week for the 2013 Mountaintop Breakfast.  If you did not receive one, or if you would like to have an invitation sent to someone, please contact Teri Hardman.

An email with more specifics on the event and how you can be a part of it will be going out this week!

Once again, Summit will offer extended childcare on the morning of the breakfast for those parents attending.  Our doors will be open beginning at 7:00 am on Thursday, November 7, for anyone who wishes to drop their student at the school before going to the Breakfast.  Teachers will be overseeing the children and there will be no charge.

As in previous years, we will have some children involved in the event - we will be letting you know next week if your child will be participating and what that will mean for you.

This year promises to be a great Breakfast - we hope to see you there!

Unlocking Potential

November 7, 2013, 8:00 am | The Olmsted

School Pictures should have received your picture orders last Friday. If you did not pre-order or would like to order additional prints, either fill out and return the form from your picture packet or visit and enter the name and order code on your form.

If you have any questions, please contact Inter-State Studio's customer service line at 1-800-952-6450.

School picture re-take and make-up day is this Friday, October 4. If you would like a retake, please fill out the student information portion of your form and return to the front desk (with portraits if you pre-ordered). This will be a free dress day for those who are having pictures taken.

Grandparents Day have gone out to Summit grandparents inviting them to come have breakfast with us and see their grandchildren's classrooms and tour the school. If your child has a "special someone" in their life that is like a grandparent to them, such as a favorite aunt/uncle, family friend, etc., please feel free to invite them - or let us know and we will send an invitation to them.

If you did not receive an invitation, or would like to RSVP, please contact Debi Longfellow via email or at 244-7090.

Thank You for Bringing in Shoes
Mrs. Mathew's math class counted your donations and the grand total

came to 323!

If you have shoes that you still want to donate, be sure to bring them on Monday and add them to the collection on the stage. Please send the number of shoes you are donating via email to Janna Mathews.

Kosair Kids Halloween Night

We have an opportunity to get up to 40 tickets for Kosair Kids Halloween Night at the Louisville Zoo on Wednesday, October 16 at 6 p.m.  If you are interested in receiving a ticket, please email or call Kelly at 244-7090 by October 11.

  • Please only request a ticket if you are absolutely sure that you will use it since Kosair Charities will track all tickets issued.
  • Everyone entering the zoo must have a ticket-not just children
  • Initially, we will give only one ticket per family. If, by October 14, we have not had a request for all the tickets, we will give you an additional ticket.

So, come dressed in your Halloween best and be ready for some fun, and not too scary, trick-or-treating at the Louisville Zoo!

Kosair Charities Needs Our Help
As you know, Summit Academy receives generous financial contributions from Kosair Charities. Thanks to these gifts, we are able to provide needed services to our students that we could not otherwise fund.

Kosair Charities is celebrating 90 years this year and their celebration culminates with the Kosair

 Charities Fall Fest

at their Eastern Parkway Campus on October 12 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Kosair is in need of volunteers to help in the Reunion Tent, Sponsor Tent, Lost Kid Booth as well as wherever help is needed. Time slots are available for: 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m.; 2-6 pm; 6-10 pm.

If you would like to volunteer, please contact Debi Longfellow via email or at 244-7090. Please state where you want to help and what time slot you prefer.

Please consider supporting those who support Summit Academy.
