Summit Academy of Greater Louisville is pleased to announce the appointment of Doug Strothman as Head of School, effective December 1, 2018. Doug joined Summit as Interim Head of School in July of this year after serving as President of St. Francis DeSales High School for the past 12 years.
A lifetime Louisvillian, Doug has a wealth of experience and knowledge in affecting change, building brand and ensuring financial sustainability. He has a passion for education and looks forward to continuing his service to the Summit community.
“I am thrilled and honored to be serving the Summit community,” shares Doug. “This is a school with a huge heart and an incredibly gifted faculty and staff. I look forward to supporting them as we continue to serve an institution of unique and gifted learners.”
Summit Academy was incorporated as an independent, not for profit school in February 1992 in response to the needs of families in the Greater Louisville area for a progressive school program focused on providing excellence in education for students who struggle to achieve success in a traditional school program because of a neurological processing problem(s). Summit offers alternative approaches to learning for its students by providing services through both a graded and a non-graded school concept for primary, intermediate, middle, and high school level students. It also provides a pre-kindergarten and kindergarten program for children at-risk for learning disabilities.
